I thoroughly enjoyed reading your article. I attended college with Dr. Betty Reed and we worked together as part of the yearbook staff back then. She is a fine person and a thorough researcher. I recently read her book on the Brevard Rosenwald School and found it fascinating. Your memories of that time and place add reality to it all. Thanks for sharing your own personal microhistory.

Thanks for sharing the tip about mixing positive and negative character traits. I love that idea, and it’s a great way to enrich characters.
As for Ruth, I believe she is a compulsive gambler and she plays ping-pong while drinking limoncello to relax.
